Meshuggah - Obzen

I liken Meshuggah to a dwarf, entangled in the space-time continuum, growing older, but never actually "growing up". This is a shame because they have so much more potential. The same can be said of Obzen, the latest record from the connoisseurs of Swedish metal, Meshuggah. The album is another display of how their breed of rhythm can twist my mind.

Some bands are happy putting the same album out year after year and if you enjoy bands like that (Yes, Tool included) then take a listen to this. Vent aside, have fun sinking your claws into the album...6/10 (First listen)

Ophiuchus - The Serpent Holder

Between Scorpius and Sagittarius lies a secret to most but astronomers. Ladies and Gentlemen, in case you haven't heard, there is a 13th constellation originally called "Serpentarius" a greek word for "serpent holder" know commonly known as Ophiuchus. Of the 13 zodiacal constellations (constellations that contain the Sun during the course of the year), Ophiuchus is the only one not counted as an astrological sign!

Ophiuchus the Serpent Holder is and always has been the 13th constellation on the zodiac belt, but has never been initiated as a sign of the Zodiac
Ophiuchus, in Greek mythology, was Aesclepius, Master Architect, Healer, and God of Wisdom. Ophiuchus is the only constellation in the sky which is patterned after a real person in human history, tracing back through time and space for its roots to an Ancient Egyptian mortal-made-god named Imhotep, whose life and times in or about the 27th Century B.C. He was honored by both the Egyptians and Greeks some 2500 years after his death as not only a great man, but as a god who owed his great powers to the knowledge of medicine which he possessed, and who brought the art of healing to mankind.

The Bedlam in Goliath - The Mars Volta (2008) Review

Right now after having done the whole thing, I feel depleted, kinda like I just took on the burden of the ring to Mordor, but on reflection, the adventure was fantastic!

Heaps of new ideas, but alas some noodle induced worm holes too. I think they should have stayed with Rick Ruben, That homie somehow managed to tame the beast.

I love Mars volta for their creativity and this dark horse was a wild ride into some quite uncomfortable places musically, but still interesting in a japanese horror film type way. Thomas (the new drummer) is certainly the star this time round but keeping up with his multi-dimensional rhythm farts was both entertaining and exhausting simultaneously. I swear that boy has more limbs than Vishnu!

Sometimes the unpredictable becomes predictable and at times, this is far too evident for my liking on this particular record.

Cedrics glass shattering squeal is on parade but lacks the balls that Robert Plant sank into the musical vagina before him. On the flip side his execution of weird melodic ideas are refreshing and rejuvenating to me and is enough to temporally forget the treble ringing in the back of my skull.

Apart from that, pure joy. Final overall score... 7.2/10

30 Stars in and it's already official!

Super Mario Galaxy is the best video game I have ever played! Sorry Ocarina, there is a new homeboy in town. "Itza meeeee Marioooooooooo"

Super Mario Galaxy encompasses every aspect I love about gaming. More fun than losing your virginity and oozing fresh gameplay that feels intuitive and addicting, galaxy keeps you guessing on a roller coaster designed to melt universe.

I take my hats off to the creative team, truly this is a landmark in beautiful gaming. I won't write a review, as I think yo get the drift, but let me conclude as to why it stole the crown from Ocarina of time. Zelda has been the benchmark for a very long time now, at times I had doubt if gaming could contract into the yoga position needed to give birth to something as fulfilling and self-rewarding but gravity just walked in the door and now link has retired to masturbation in the corner. The introduction of the gravity element has completely bent ALL my spoons and the icing on the cake is the sheer joy of flying through space from one orbit to the next. How can any game compete with that? Possibly the only game that could, has not yet being made but brothers and sisters, please rejoice and praise the good lord if you ever here the sacred words "Zelda Galaxy"

the Reptilian Humanoids

One of the most wildly bizarre theories I have stumbled upon this year are what some crackpots call the Reptilian humanoids. Apart from the ridiculous aura surrounding this subject, I like to think I can approach it with an open mind and after reading a little, it seems it has a little substance which makes it worth investigating a little more.

Reptilian humanoids were born into human consciousness by our oldest known ancestors the Sumerians who described ancient astronauts known as the Anunna or Anunakai coming from the sky and creating mankind. These beings were depicted as lizard-like creatures and worshipped as deities. Fast forward a few thousand years to the ancient mesoamerican period and we find Quetzalcoatl a sky god for the Aztecs depicted as a lizard with wings.

Interestingly, throughout most human history, lizard-like beings have been worshipped and are the subject of much speculation. I will keep this on my list for now, even for entertainments sake.
